Green journeys is a multi-partner project looking at the Arts and the environment in a holistic way.
It primarily consists of a series of poems which are going to be developed into posters which will be exhibited on Arriva Trains Wales
A series of public artworks which will be sited from Maesteg to Caerau.
The project is a collaboration between Bridgend County Borough Council, Literature Wales,Bridgend college and Sustrans. As part of the South Wales Valley Literature Development Initiative two writers Grahame Davies and Mike Church have been commissioned to work with local children from YGG Llangynwyd and Maesteg Comprehensive to create poems in Welsh and English respectively , on the theme of green journeys. These poems will be developed into posters by graphic design students from Bridgend College and will be displayed Arriva Trains in Spring 2011.
Continuing with this theme the writers and children have created a series of Green Journeys poems for the Upper Lynfi Valley Cycle Route. These poems have formed the source material for the artist Adam Williamson to design and create a series of permanent public artworks compromising of a series of waystone markers in stone, to be sited along the route. There is also a planned seating area with which text and or other designs may be incorporated.
